Lankans do well at New Zealand Veteren’s TT

TABLE TENNIS: Nimal Lucas, Mohammed Laffeer and S.S.de Silva won a gold medal in men’s over 55 team event at the New Zealand Masters Games held in Wanganui, New Zealand, recently.

Nimal Lucas was the top performer in the squad by winning six medals including one gold, one silver and four bronze medals, respectively.

He partnered by R.A.Wimalasena won a silver medal in over 55 men’s doubles. He won his other medals in over 45 men’s doubles.

In over 45 men’s team event comprising Sarath Wijesooriya, Rajeeva Wijetunga and R.A.Wimalasena won a silver medal.

In the friendly doubles Athula Hettiarachchi and Danesh Gunatilake won a gold medal. Danesh also won the men’s novices event while Athula Hettiarachchi secured the runner up position.
