Grenadians Grateful to Chinese Government
THE Grenada National Stadium, formerly the Queens Park Oval, here in
Grenada is a sight to behold. It is a work of art.
All Grenadinas are grateful and do not know how to repay the Chinese
government for making this wonderful facility possible with their
benevolence.
Seeing this stadium is believing. The Grenadians are proud to own
such a wonderful stadium. Collectively the stand tall because it belongs
to all.
Known as the Spice Isle, that only two years ago was reeling from
devastating attacks from hurricanes ‘Ivan’ and ‘Emily’.
The locals with their resiliency and national pride with the help
from their supportive friendships locally, regionally and
internationally have proven to the world that they will not be deterred.
The old Queens Park Oval now renamed the Grenada National Stadium has
a produce history dating back to the early 1860s where games were
organised.
The first international Cricket Council fixture in 1983 saw the West
Indies and India play an one-day international.
The Grenadians are convinced that they have got the best World Cup
games package, and they welcome the world to their home-the Jewel of the
Eastern Caribbean and assure the international community that they are
back in business and better than ever.
The locals are determined to show to the rest of the World the kind
of marvellous hospitality, warmth, friendliness and love this country
has to offer.
The Grenadians believe that there are several benefits to be derived
from this cricket World Cup experience. Some are:
They have a first class national cricket stadium.
Cricket World Cup 2007 will establish a legacy that Grenadians today
as well as those for generations to come can be proud of. The
infrastructural framework and development works are fast tracked to
accommodate Cricket World Cup.
The infrastructural and other development works will attract
investors. To Promote improvement of tourism services and a better
tourism product.
To further promote regional integration. The spin-off opportunities
for the business sector will be enormous with the potential of boosting
the economy.The Grenadians would like to know that when the visitors
leave their beautiful shores, they would be taking with them lasting and
pleasant memories of Grenada.
With the Chinese Government gifting Grenada such a magnificent
stadium, the Sri Lankans have only to ask and the Chinese Government
would only be too glad to oblige. |
