LTTE kills youth, abducts another

VAVUNIYA: The LTTE continued its barbaric acts targeting civilians
killing a youth and abducting another in two separate incidents during
the Sinhala and Tamil New Year days in the Vanni.
A youth was shot dead by Tiger terrorists at his residence in
Ganeshapuram, Vavuniya on Sunday night, the Media Centre for the
National Security said.
According to a spokesman from the MCNS the victim Selvaraja Gajendran
was shot dead by a group of LTTE cadres at his residence in Ganeshapuram
on Sunday at around 9.15 p.m.
“It is believed that the victim was forced to join the outfit several
times but refused to fall in line,” he added. Meanwhile, three wheeler
driver Jesurathnam Roshan (21) was abducted by LTTE cadres on Saturday
night.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Vavuniya police saying
that his son was abducted by the LTTE around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday. “The
Vavuniya police conducted a search operation and found the three wheeler
abandoned in the Murunkan area,” the MCNS spokesman said.
In a separate incident, fisherman K. Ganesharaja lodged a complaint
at the Mannar police that an armed LTTE group stormed his house in
Shanthipuram road, Mannar on Saturday morning and forcibly removed his
boat and engine. |
