Ratnapura FL clash with Kalutara FL in final tomorrow
Eveready Junior Inter League C’ship:
SOCCER: The final of the under 19 Inter League Championship
2005/06 between Ratnapura FL and Kalutara FL for the Eveready Trophy is
scheduled to be played this Saturday (April 7) at U. Vernon Fernando
Stadium Kalutara. The kick off is at 4.0p.m.
The Championship organised and conducted by the Football Federation
of Sri Lanka was participated by thirty nine Football leagues from all
parts of the country.
Kalutara FL before reaching the final had to overcome football
Leagues from Beruwala, Matara, Badulla, Gampola, Galle and Dehiwal/Mount
Lavinia. Meanwhile Ratnapura Fl in cruising to the final defeated
Balangoda, Play Grounds FL 2-0, Kotte, City League, Kurunegala and drew
with Colombo FL 1-1.
Ratnapura FL’s strikers have done their part well for its team
scoring as many as 28 goals in six games while giving away only four.
Their biggest harvest of goals coming from the game against Balangoda
FL.
Here the Ratnapura strikers had a field day scoring 17 goals. Their
opponents failed to score single goal in this game which also proved
their forward’s capabilities. Ratnpura’s strength lies with their
forwards and they have to repeat the same form against Kalutara if they
are to go away with the trophy.
Kalutara Footballers too have fared well before the entry in to the
final, but did not score much as their opponents.
The biggest victory margin they achieved was against Gampola FL where
they managed six goals. Kalutara will have to put up a strong defence if
they are to halt the goal hungry Ratnapura soccerites. This burden lies
on the defence line of the home team. The only advantage the Kalutara
has is the ground support coming their way.
Chief Guest for the final will be Director Finance and Admin,.
Energizer Lanka Ltd. Mrs. Niroza Hussain and give away the awards.
