Greater relief for consumers

Price reductions to continue after New Year:

The Government yesterday allayed fears of consumers who entertained the notion that the present price reduction of essential items would only be confined to the upcoming festive season, with the firm assurance that the relief measure would continue beyond this period.

Govt’s proposals to APRC on May 1

Maximum devolution of power within one country:

The Government will present its political proposals on devolution of power to the All Party Representatives Committee (APRC) on May 1, Vesak Full Moon Poya day and May day, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Development Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.

Jaffna traders support Govt’s efforts to carry supplies

Twelve traders from Jaffna, under the facilitation of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCISL) have undertaken to ship 2,000 metric tones of goods from Colombo to Jaffna (on a weekly basis) in support of the ongoing efforts of the Government to supply the needs of the people in the Jaffna peninsula.
