Govt. should aim for terror-free society
AAM NIZAM
OPINION: In complete contrast to universal solidarity shown by
masses the world over against terrorists and other enemies threatening
the wellbeing of their countries, in Sri Lanka terrorist jingoists
including the leader of the UNP and his evangelist cohorts, enjoying the
comforts of urbanite luxuries shamelessly observe complete silence and
never condemn the terrorists when they massacre innocent school
children, and unarmed toiling masses, women and children including
infants while travelling in overcrowded busses or attending to their
daily needs at market places.
It is hilarious to find these jingoists misinterpret the military
operations against the terrorists as premeditated propaganda exercises.
They pretend blind and remain obscure when terrorists use innocent
masses as human shields and prevent food supplies to entrapped masses.
They parrot the slogans of the terrorist enemy and invite foreign
powers to interfere in the governance, demand to halt legitimate
military exercises carried out by the government to protect the
sovereignty and the people, call to cease overseas funding for
development projects, allege about violations of human rights and
abduction of people, and cry foul over arrest of suspected terrorists
and enemies of the nation.
The blatant anti-national behaviour displayed by these terrorist
jingoists in the aftermath of the terrorist air-raid deserves complete
condemnation by all patriotic masses. With total disregard to the call
made by patriotic organisations, religious dignitaries, masses,
politicians and the handful of patriotic media for unity and solidarity
with the heroic armed forces, as it was the need of the hour, these
terrorist jingoists including the leader of the UNP, attempted to find
fault with and ridicule our dedicated Armed Forces over the incident.
The UNP leader had turned down the invitation made by the President
for leaders of all political parties to meet and issue a condemnation of
the incident.
Contrary to what his cronies say his Secretary had turned down the
invitation claiming that he was having a pre-arranged meeting at that
time and hence will be unable to attend.
This is a glaring example of disregard shown to burning national
issues by this treacherous and greedy politician who in addition to
strengthening the terrorists, systematically destroyed Sri Lanka’s
oldest national political party getting the patriots in it eliminated or
dissipated and pawned it to the Christian Democratic Conglomerate,
International Democratic Union, which promotes Christian interests the
worldover.
For many media rogues the terrorist air-raid was a great achievement
made by their benefactor, a humiliating defeat and set-back for our
heroic Armed Forces, an event warranting the resignation of the Defence
Secretary, the President and the dissolution of the government, an event
that would cripple the country’s economy, drive out all foreign
investors, frighten the tourists and force them to cancel their tour
plans, divert shipping lines from calling on our sea-ports, a precursor
for dangerous escalation Arms Race, and a total negation of successes
claimed by the government and the security forces against the terrorist
outfit in the East and other locations.
The shameless approach taken by these media rogues on this incident
explicitly depict their total dedication to protect and foster the
interests of the terrorist outfit.
What has been pointed out in The Island editorial dated 19.03.07 that
certain newspapers are funded by political parties, some prominent
mediamen have obtained bribes from politicians in the form of real
estate and as a result have become pliable tools in the dirty political
hands, they are prostituting their journalistic positions and
functioning as shock troops of their political masters, they are
mercenaries who would stoop to any level, some are in NGO mudalilis’
pocket, lured by dollars, pounds and kroners and they thrive on human
misery precisely elaborates why these media rogues have taken an
anti-national attitude in this hour of dire need that warrant everyone
to stand firm and united against terrorism.
Other than these media rogues and the despondent UNPers the air-raid
incident was an event of celebrity and matter of jubilation for the
anti-national Federalists, the servile NGOs and the peace merchants.
They made use of the event to invigorate their anti-war, and
federalist demands that were heading for natural deaths, in the face of
great achievements being made by our heroic forces in all the three
domains.
Even before the dust of the air-raid settled down these vultures,
making use of all their local and international avenues demanded the
government to cease forthwith the anti-terrorist operation which they
claimed was futile and only causing death, destruction and displacement
of innocent masses; insisted that the government should immediately and
unconditionally start negotiations with the terrorists and stipulated
that the government should announce concrete plans to grant devolution
and power sharing to North and East for what they called to negate the
decades of discrimination and subjugation.
The firm and unwavering stand taken by the government meeting head on
these agitations and threats, taking necessary measures to overcome the
lapses in the security apparatus is indeed admirable and praisworthy.
This event provided a great opportunity to demonstrate the solidarity
of the patriotic masses with actions of our heroic Security Forces in
their relentless endeavour to liberate the territories and innocent
masses from the clutches of terrorist occupation and suppression.
No further respite, under any circumstances, should be given to the
terrorists to recoup their resources and strengthen their armaments, as
allowed by the previous naive administrations.
The government should empower the Security Forces to unceasingly
hound the terrorists and totally eliminate them before turning their
attention to any other matter which may become necessary and relevant
only in a terrorist free society.
Until such time the only objective of the government should be to
make this splendid nation free of terrorists. |
