BCIS Language Training Programmes
COLOMBO: The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS)) is
now calling applications for the language training programmes to be
commenced in April, a release by BCIS said.
All language courses are offered at three levels, namely: Beginners,
Intermediate, and Advanced. The programmes are conducted by
well-qualified foreign and local lecturers. Teaching is assisted by
multimedia, internet and library facilities.
The BCIS is the academic wing of the S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike
National Memorial Foundation established under Act of Parliament No. 2
of 1975. The BCIS is non-profit, service-oriented tertiary level
education and research institute of which activities are governed by an
Honorary Council of Management.
The training programmes are targeting at officials of the Government
Departments, State Corporations, Military/Police and those who are
employed in the private sector.
The courses are tailor-made to cater the basic language requirements
of the above categories, covering three main aspects of language namely
reading, writing and speaking. The students are provided with a good
ambience to study with well-furnished, air-conditioned classrooms with
state-of-the-art teaching aids.
The programme will address the needs of locals and foreigners who
wish to learn languages for employment, migration, business and
educational purposes.
The April session of the language training programme includes courses
in Tamil, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and Sinhala language for
foreigners. Enrolments are now on for the new session and information is
available in the BCIS website (www.bcis.edu.lk). The applications should
reach on before April, 20, 2007.
Application forms can be obtained by calling over at the BCIS office
during regular office hours from Tuesday to Saturday or by sending a
self-addressed, stamped envelops to PO/LTP, BCIS, BMICH, Bauddhaloka
Mawatha, Colombo 07.
