People gained many victories under present Government - Minister

COLOMBO: Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama said, the
people have achieved many victories by appointing people’s Government
into power. The Minister was speaking at the opening of Dikwella Police
station which was devastated by the tsunami. The Japanese Government
funded the project.
The Minister said, Rs. 280 million worth of tsunami warning equipment
have been received from Japan.
The development activities will be carried out with co-operation of
the Japanese Government in the future, he said.
Welgama said, the Police should provide maximum service required by
the people.
Inspector General of Police Victor Perera said he is thankful to the
Japanese Government for providing aid to build a well-equipped Police
station.
He said Government officials including the Police get paid by the
poor taxpayers money and that they should carry out their duties
honestly, legally and without any political discrimination.
Media Minister Laxman Yapa Abeywardena, Presidential Co-ordinating
Secretary Nalaka Bamunusinghe, Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Naguwati
Ito, Senior DIGs Jayantha Wickremarathne and Jayantha Gamage, Dikwella
Pradeshiya Sabha Deputy Chairman, District Secretary and Divisional
Secretary participated.
