Kandy fire doused

KANDY: A fire that erupted around 4.30 pm yesterday at the forest just behind the Kandy Kingswood College, has been successfully doused before the fire could spread towards Peradeniya and to the surrounding areas.

According to Kandy Police, no cause for fire has been identified. The Police told the `Daily News’ that there were no casualties, or heavy damages reported due to the sudden fire that rose towards the evening.

The Kandy fire-brigade’s swift action helped to douse the fire minimising damages, the Police said.

SI Karunarathna of the Crime Branch of the Kandy Police said no damages were caused to Kingswood College due the unexpected fire that rose from the forest behind the college grounds.
