Military Chiefs assess security in Vanni

STRENGTHENING SECURITY MEASURES: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka yesterday held discussions with ground commanders in the Vanni area regarding security measures to be taken against LTTE atrocities in Vavuniya and other areas in the Vanni. The CDS and the Army Commander, after being received by Commander Security Forces Vanni Major General W. U. B. Edirisinghe, were taken to Headquarters SF-W where commanders of Divisions, Brigades and Units met the top military duo to review the security plans. The Military Chiefs briefed the ground commanders on security measures that need to be taken with regards to LTTE violence.”Here the Military chiefs on arrival.


Troops continue humanitarian operations

LTTE attacking Security Forces from schools and hospitals:

THE Navy yesterday seized two boats ferrying medical supplies to wounded LTTEers in Pallemunai, Mannar and captured two Tigers in a clear indication that the outfit had suffered heavy casualties during the current humanitarian operations by the Forces in the Mannar sector.

The LTTE supplied forged passports to Ramzi Yousef who bombed the World Trade Center, counter terrorism expert Aaron Mannes said. He was commenting on the report about the Tigers stealing Norwegian passports and selling them to al-Qaeda affiliates in the Daily News of March 20.
