CMC vigil on households

COLOMBO: The officials of the Colombo Municipal
Council(CMC)will make a house-to-house visit under the guidance of the
CMC Public Health Department from March 31 to gauge how observant the
residents of the city has been to the messages and instructions issued
by the Council in combating deadlier diseases like Dengue and
Chikungunya.
According to the instruction issued by the CMC the residents are
expected to keep their premises clean and devoid plastic barrels,cups,
tyres, tins, bottles, coconut shells, and gutters etc where the
rain-water could be collected.
The inspection tour is intended to ascertain that the premises are
clean and there are no breeding grounds for mosquitos.
Under the Mosquito-borne Diseases Regulations, the presence of
breeding sites is an offence punishable under the law. If any one is
found to have disobeyed the law the CMC would take stern action to deal
with such offenders, the CMC sources said.
The CMC’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam appeals to
the Public to make their premises free of mosquito breeding sites before
March 31, and assist the Public Health Staff and the volunteers who
visit their premises to make the campaign a success. |
