Conference on Trade in Services

CONFERENCE: The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) will be holding an international conference on Trade in Services in South Asia: Opportunities and Risks in Liberalisation, to be held in Colombo on the 4th-5th of April, 2007 at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.

The conference intends to analyze service sector liberalisation undertaken to-date in the region and highlight the opportunities and risks present from the liberalisation process.

With South Asia exploring the feasibility of incorporating services in the SAFTA framework, it is also timely to discuss the potential areas of co-operation in the services sector in the region.

The conference is expected to provide an open forum for discussion and debate on this subject amongst policy makers, researchers, private sector participants as well as civil society organisations from South Asia.
