Bob Woolmer ‘murdered’

CRICKET: Bob Woolmer ‘murdered’. That is what the Jamaican police seem to think. In a statement the Jamaica police said that they are treating Woolmer death as murder.

The police said death was ‘due to asphyxiation by natural strangulation’.

Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room.

The World Cup was shaken with the news that Woolmer was murdered. But there is no way that the tournament was going to be called off, or changes made to the original itinerary.

Everyone here is shocked and has come to terms that a murder has taken place in the World Cup venue, the West Indies.

According to Deputy Commissioner Mark Shields there could have been one or more people involved but added that there was no evidence of forced entry into his hotel room.

Woolmer’s wife in an interview with Britain’s Sky Sport said that it was possible her husband had been murdered.

‘I mean some of the cricketing fraternity, fans are extremely volatile and passionate about the game and what happens in the game.... so I suppose there is always the possibility that it could be that (murder).

‘It fills me with horror. I just can’t believe that people would behave like that or that anyone would want to harm someone who has done so such a great service to international cricket’.
