Jaffna yields more LTTE weapons

JAFFNA: Security Forces in Jaffna yesterday made a
breakthrough in their efforts to find more of LTTE’s hidden armouries
with the seizure of two large caches of arms.
They recovered weapons and explosive items from Navanthurai and
Annakoddai following a tip-off by a civilian, the Media Centre for the
National Security said.
A cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered by the Security
Forces following information given by a civilian yesterday round 9.00
a.m. in Navanthurai, Jaffna.
“The Security Forces found the weapons hidden in a lorry parked in
front of a house,” a spokesman from the MCNS said.
The Security Forces recovered a suicide jacket, two explosive
chargers, a bottle of cyanide powder, two satellite phones, three remote
controllers, a large claymore charger, eight small claymore chargers,
four communication sets, a phone charger and 20 code sheets.
The Security Forces also recovered weapons and medical items
following information given by a civilian on Wednesday in Annakoddai,
Jaffna, the MCNS spokesman said.
The Security Forces recovered an RPG, a micro pistol, 25 live rounds
of 9mm, a 9 volt battery, 350g of C4 explosives, a miniature UZI
magazine, two communication sets fitted with Improvised Explosive
Devices, 118 syringes, 30 items of I.V , an assortment of about 1100
drugs, 66 bottle of medicine, 25 bottles of saline and a large stock of
other medical items. |
