Court directs CID to probe Nugegoda SSP

COLOMBO: Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Thilakarathna yesterday ordered the CID to conduct inquiries on Nugegoda SSP K. Udayapala on the murder of Moris Wickramasingha, brother of underworld gang leader Nawala Nihal.

The Court ordered the Chairman of The National Police Commission and the IGP to conduct inquiries on the suspect SSP.

The Magistrate directed the CID to conduct inquiries on the other three suspects Anton Erick alias Mayya, Renuka Wasanthe and Manju.

The Additional Magistrate issued the order considering submissions made by President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya who appeared on behalf of the Wickremasingha family.

The Magistrate directed the CID to send a copy of Wickramasinghe’s wife’s statement that the SSP accepted a bribe to the Bribery Commission.
