COLOMBO: The Grama Niladaris throughout the country will be
provided
with mobile phones with free incoming and outgoing packages to
overcome their difficulties in rendering the public service with
adequate office facilities, Public Administration and Home Affairs
Ministry source said.
The above decision has been taken by the Public Administration and
Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya, to ensure the better public
service.
Several complaints have been made about the problems faced by public
in meeting their respective Grama Niladaris in various official matters
due to inadequate office facilities.
Ministry believes that the services of the Grama Niladaris are vital
and linked with the day-to-day official matters specially in the rural
community.
The utilising of modern communication technology will be a great
advantage for enhancing the qualitative public oriented services.
The Ministry also revealed the present cadre strength was about
14,000 and the examination to recruit another batch had already been
conducted last month.
To fulfil the demands of the Grama Niladaris Union, the Ministry has
planned to provide proper training from time to time at their
convenience.
All plans have been finalised to provide official accommodation for
Samurdhi Development Officers, Midwives and Grama Seva Niladaris under
one roof within the area itself, sources revealed. |
