New internet radio service for youth

COLOMBO: The Youth Affairs Ministry yesterday opened a new internet
radio service with the intention of bringing various youth programmes
conducted by the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) to the
international arena.
Youth Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi yesterday officially
launched this internet radio service www.Cradio.lk at the NYSC's
training centre at Dehiwela.
This radio service will focus on the Sri Lankan youth in foreign
countries, foreigners who seek information on Sri Lanka and the youth
who use the internet service, as its target group.
Initially, youth will be able to listen to various programmes
conducted by the creative youth of the NYSC from 4.00pm to 5.00pm daily.
The NYSC has decided to expand the air time of this radio service,
she said. The NYSC has commenced this internet radio service in
collaboration with Ceylon Global Network.
The Minister said this kind of radio service will help to promote
friendship and harmony while showcasing the country's development
programmes in the international arena.
This radio service will also provide practical training to youth
leaders who are interested in the media and information technology.
This will also help Sri Lanka's youth to gain international
recognition and notch up significant attainments at international
through Youth Club movements and also to further develop their creative
talents, the Minister said. |
