COLOMBO: The Youth Affairs Ministry yesterday opened a new internet radio service with the intention of bringing various youth programmes conducted by the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) to the international arena.

Youth Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi yesterday officially launched this internet radio service www.Cradio.lk at the NYSC's training centre at Dehiwela.

This radio service will focus on the Sri Lankan youth in foreign countries, foreigners who seek information on Sri Lanka and the youth who use the internet service, as its target group.

Initially, youth will be able to listen to various programmes conducted by the creative youth of the NYSC from 4.00pm to 5.00pm daily.

The NYSC has decided to expand the air time of this radio service, she said. The NYSC has commenced this internet radio service in collaboration with Ceylon Global Network.

The Minister said this kind of radio service will help to promote friendship and harmony while showcasing the country's development programmes in the international arena.

This radio service will also provide practical training to youth leaders who are interested in the media and information technology.

This will also help Sri Lanka's youth to gain international recognition and notch up significant attainments at international through Youth Club movements and also to further develop their creative talents, the Minister said.
