Richard Dwight
swimming: In the wake of the recently concluded two mile sea swim
held in Mt.Lavinia by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) a good
many who participated at this meet along with yet others, will compete
this Sunday in the Kinross Swimming and Life Savings Clubs’ 42nd annual
six-mile-sea swim.
The event which as in past is being sponsored by Bank of Ceylon, has
grown popular through the years, and does hold much for the swimmers,
the followers of the sport and the members of the Kinross Sports Club

It is significant in that the race is the longest on the 6 mile sea
stretch commencing in the early hours of sunday morning from Kinross
S.C. proceeding to Mt. Lavinia Hotel and turn around to progress to
finish at Kinross with warm weather prevailing and choppy seas at times,
the gruelling, challenging sea stretch is bound to exact the best from
the swimmers.

taking part. The eligible age is above 15 years and, those desirous of
being considered in the oldest category be it men or women should be
above 30 years.
A salient feature this year will be the presentation of cash awards
to the first five swimmers in the men’s and women’s category. This will
certainly serve as an added incentive and encouragement to the swimmers.
