Thirty six teams for QI Pro Rugby Sevens

RUGBY:Thirty six teams will take part in the QI Pro Rugby Sevens
which will be worked off at CR and FC grounds,Longden Place on March 17
and 18, 2007.
Twelve leading teams will take part in Tier one. Kandy Sports Club
which won the Radelle Sevens a fortnight ago have been drawn into Group
A along with Old Zahirians and Galle RFC while CH and FC, Army SC A
and CR and FC B are in Group B. Havelocks sports club, Air Force and
Army B have been slotted into Group C while runners-up of the
Radella sevens CR and FC, Police and Jawatta Lions will battle it out in
Group D.
Twenty four teams will vie for honours in Tier Two which will be
played at University grounds, Colombo. QI Limited a Hong Kong based
company has come forward to sponsor the tournament.

Seneviratne speaking at a press briefing held at Galadari Hotel
yesterday said that sevens rugby helps lesser known countries to compete
at International level with the leading countries in the world.
He paid a glowing tribute to QI Ltd for coming forward to sponsor
this tournament and hoped that the partnership between the SLRFU and QI
Ltd will continue for many more years.
He said that QI Ltd will be sponsoring the Sri Lanka National team at
the Hong Kong sevens, cobra sevens in Malaysia and the Singer Sevens in
Kandy.
The Group Legal counsel for QI Ltd John Challen said that the company
has always identified with sports that encourage a combination of
agility, speed quick reflexes and team-work because those are values
that they identify as a group.
In addition to sponsoring the pro sevens QI is also reaffirming its
commitment to the game in Sri Lanka by sponsoring the national team at
the Hong Kong sevens.
