National conference on climate change tomorrow

COLOMBO: The National Conference on Climate Change will be held at Kukuleganga Holiday Resort, Kukuleganga on March 16 and 17.

The event will be the finale of the series of seminars on climate change organised by the Centre for Climate Change Studies (CCCS) of the Meteorology Department. The conference will create awareness on climate change and their consequences.

The conference will focus on recommendations for adaptation responses, potential mitigation measures and the policy issues on climate change, Meteorology Department Director General G.H.P. Dharmaratne said.

According to Dharmaratne The CCCS had organised a series of seminars to educate the district level administrators, Government officers, university students and schoolteachers and NGOs on the climate change.

The project was funded by the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research under the CAPaBLE Programme.
