Armed gang hijacks van

MATARA: A gang of armed men forcibly stopped a moving van at Udukawa on the Weligama, Akuressa route, assaulted the owner and the driver of the van and decamped with the vehicle, according to a complaint lodged at Weligama by B. Pandigama of Udukawa.

The owner and driver in the vehicle were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Weligama police are investigating.
