Expansion of Inland fisheries under Gama Naguma programme

COLOMBO: Special arrangements have been made by the National Aquatic and Agrarian Development Authority under the "Gama Naguma" programme to expand inland fisheries, to start fish farms, to develop ornamental fish industry and to develop sea water and fresh water fish industry, said the Authority Chairman Munidasa Premachandra.

The Chairman further stated that a circular been sent to divisional and district aquatic project officers to make the specific arrangements to start this project.

According to "Gama Naguma" and "Jathika Saviya" programmes one local Government Minister identified two grama seva divisions for development. Therefore, The aquatic project officers are advised by the authority to work with the local Government Minister in this regard.
