Time for USA, Italy, Germany and the EU to stop mollycoddling Tiger terrorists

AUSTRALIA: The President of SPUR, Dr. Dasarath Jayasuriya in a release said it is time USA, Italy, Germany and the EU stop mollycoddling Tiger Terrorists.

The release said, SPUR, unreservedly condemn the cowardly attack by the LTTE on the visit by a number of Ambassadors to the East of Sri Lanka.

The dignitaries were visiting the area recently liberated from the Tiger Terrorists by the Sri Lankan armed forces and the STF. They were especially keen to meet the displaced people and inquire into their welfare and experience first hand, the magnificent work done by the Government’s administration to bring a resemblance of normality to the people who suffered for a long time under the ‘jackboot terror’ of the LTTE.

The LTTE’s callous deed of attacking the foreign dignitaries is a sign of their desperation. The Tigers had strategised and decided to kill the Ambassadors of countries which had listed the LTTE as terrorists to demonstrate their potency to the fast dwindling supporters.

However, its inability to complete their orders from the Vanni and kill the Ambassadors now has the potential to literally blow up in their face. Already there are rumours that the Americans have promised heavy duty armaments to Sri Lanka’s Army to further weaken the Tigers.

What is surprising is the insipid response of the German representatives of the EU. Speaking in the name of the European Union, Germany condemned Tuesday’s attack and demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities between the government and the LTTE.

This is the impotent line that has been parroted by many EU members over the last two or three years when terrorist incidents take place in Sri Lanka.

When will they wake up from the slumber and restate that the Tigers are terrorists and they would help the Sri Lankan Government to track Prabakaran and bring him to justice.

After all, this megalomaniac has killed more people in one year than the grand total achieved by Al Qaeda since 11 September 2002. The breathtaking duplicity practised by some of the EU members and even the American Ambassador (when articulating his strategy for Sri Lanka’s terrorist problem in a recent speech) is evident for all to see.

While seeking the obliteration of the Taliban in Afghanistan, disarming Iran and creating an apocalyptic Iraq, the US and its allies in the EU demand Sri Lanka to cease hostilities between the government and the Tiger terrorists, and negotiate peace. They very well know that the LTTE is not keen to negotiate peace.

Mollycoddling terrorists only embolden them to be more vicious. The obligation of the EU, USA and the Co-chairs of the peace process is to pool their resources, rope in India and help the Sri Lankan Government to militarily weaken the LTTE to a stage that they are compelled to negotiate or risk obliteration.

It’s time for the co-chairs of the peace process to act tough and assist Sri Lanka to annihilate the LTTE and reward the long suffering people of Sri Lanka, who still believe in democracy after 25 years of carnage perpetrated by Prabakaran, the rabid megalomaniac. It’s time to act tough.
