CRICKET: Sri Lanka Cricket will conduct a three-day course for
level one cricket coaches from the Central Province at Kandy Cricket
Academy along Srimath Cuda Ratwatte Mawatha, Elephant Bath, Kandy on
Wednesday February 28.
This course will be conducted by Central Province cricket coach Sunil
Fernando and he will be assisted by district coaches Chaminda Kodikara,
Bernard Perera, Migara Ekanayake, S. Katthik, and the Uva Provincial
cricket coach Piyal Wijetunga.
This cricket coaching course is being conducted with a view of
providing cricket coaching qualifications to the cricket coaches and in
the future only the cricket coaches with qualifications will be
permitted to handle the coaching of school cricketers. At present no
qualification is laid down to coach a cricket team.
The Central Province cricket coach Sunil Fernando said that the Sri
Lanka Cricket in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket
Association will make arrangements for only cricket coaches with
qualifications to engage in cricket coaching, so that the correct
technique could be imparted to the young cricketers as the coaching
techniques have changed over the years and we must keep with the times. |
