Indika and Deepika clinch TT doubles

TABLE TENNIS: Indika Prasad (Seylan Bank) and his wife Deepika Rodrigo (Lake House) excelled in the Munidasa Gunasinghe Memorial Open All Island Ranking Table Tennis Championship by winning the Men's and Women's Singles titles along with the Mixed Doubles title.

The tournament was organised by the St. John's Sports Club, Nugegoda worked off at the S. Thomas' College, Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia, recently.

Indika Prasad beat his team mate K. S. Chalitha in a closely contested six setter to win the Men's Singles final. In the Women's Singles final Deepika Rodrigo defeated Ishara Madurangi in four sets.

Indika and Deepika won the Mixed double title after defeating the pair of Tharindra Weerakoon and Sukitha Wickramanayake in a four setter final. Ishara Madurangi (Devananda College) who won a triple crown and Eleven year Hasintha Sashiranga (Dharmashoka College) who won a double were the other top performers at the event.
