CID officer commits suicide

COLOMBO:A CID officer committed suicide while he was under the CID custody yesterday at around 10.30 a.m. CID sources said.

According to the CID sources the deceased CID officer Chandrasekera was arrested in Valachchenai for his alleged connection with the LTTE and receiving weapons training at an LTTE camp. The alleged CID officer was detained under the CID custody for further investigation. "Chandrasekara was hanged himself using a bed sheet at the toilet," he added.

The CID DIG Ashoka Wijethilaka terminated the two CID officers of their duties who were incharge of the detainee, sources added.
