LTTE terrorists responsible for adverse atmosphere

BINGIRIYA: Due to this incessant war prevailing in our country
for over 20 years, our school children have become quite familiar with
acts of violence, and violent behaviour has become the order of the day,
said Ven. Kadigamuwe Medhankara Nayaka Thera, the Chief Advisor of the
Dhamma Schools in the Kurunegala district.
The Thera was speaking at a meeting of Dhamma school teachers and
senior prefects of Dhamma schools in the Kurunegala district held at
Bingiriya National School.
"Our school children take no any surprise or anxiety over brutal
assassinations of leaders, massacres or bomb blasts. LTTE terrorists are
totally responsible for such an atmosphere in this noble island," the
Thera said.
The Thera said that noble human values are disappearing fast from our
society and money has become the most venerated thing in the minds of
people, and nobility and humanity is estimated in terms of money in the
present era.
"The Buddha and the Jesus Christ preached the sublime teachings and
universal truths.
Such teachings are greatly valued by the many who don't crave for
material things alone blindly, "the Thera stressed.
The Thera said that the Buddha greatly appreciated human lives and
even Gods respect human-beings who practice whole heartedly the five
precepts and show loving kindness to all beings alike as if a mother
looks after her only child with great care and love. "Terrorist leaders
and the leaders of the underworld activities think only about the
present, and they never think of the next world," Ven Nayaka Thera said.
The Jesus Christ has preached that people gather or reap what they
sow. The Buddha taught that consequences of our deeds have to be
underwent by everyone according to the law of Kamma. Kamma is a natural
law common to everybody, the Thera said.
"Dhamma school children should listen to sermons that are broadcasted
by radio on Wednesdays and Sundays and they should be obedient to their
parents and elders who sacrifice their time, money and energy for their
well-being," the Thera said.
W. E. Jayathilaka, Divisional Secretary of Kuliyapitiya also spoke. |
