Condolence messages on death of Anil Obeyesekere, PC
SLFP Lawyers' Association
COLOMBO: The members of the SLFP Lawyers' Association extended
their deepest sympathies on the demise of President's Counsel Anil
Obeyesekere. He was the President of the SLFP Lawyers' Association from
1993 to 1996.
The message states, "he rendered a yeoman service to the Sri Lanka
Freedom Party through the SLFP Lawyers' Association at the time when the
SLFP was in the Opposition and the members of the party were being
persecuted for alleged offences.
He never failed to offer his legal services to the party, President
of the SLFP Lawyers' Association D. P. Mendis said in a media release
issued yesterday. In all such instances, he proved that the persecutions
were wrong. The party hierarchy always sought his advice on legal
matters which he never failed to offer. His legal opinion was always
proved to be correct, the release stated.
His sudden demise is a great loss both to the SLFP and the SLFP
Lawyers' Association as well. May he attain the supreme bliss of
Nirvana."
