The message states, "he rendered a yeoman service to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party through the SLFP Lawyers' Association at the time when the SLFP was in the Opposition and the members of the party were being persecuted for alleged offences.

He never failed to offer his legal services to the party, President of the SLFP Lawyers' Association D. P. Mendis said in a media release issued yesterday. In all such instances, he proved that the persecutions were wrong. The party hierarchy always sought his advice on legal matters which he never failed to offer. His sudden demise is a great loss both to the SLFP and the SLFP Lawyers' Association as well. May he attain the supreme bliss of Nirvana."
