Ashan and Kaushalya win two mile sea swim

SEA SWIM: The two mile Sea Swim organised by the Dharmasoka College Sports Council and Junior League of the Old Boys Association of Dharmasoka College for the 34th consecutive year was held recently at the sea near the Ambalangoda Rest House. This swim was sponsored by Dialog Telekom Sri Lanka.

Ashan Fernando of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo emerged (boys) Champion while K. G. G. Dilanjalie Kaushalya of P. de S. Kularatne, Ambalangoda emerged (girls) Champion.

Results:-

Boys:

1. Ashan Fernando (St. Joseph College, Colombo) 31.59, 2. P. H. Sumudu Ishan (Sri Devananda MV, Ambalangoda) 32.10, 3. Sanath Rupasinghe (St. Joseph College, Colombo) 32.12, 4. T. H. Kelum Sameera (Ambalangoda Swimming SC) 32.17 and 5. E. M. K. Fernando (St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia) 35.22.

Girls:

1. K. G. G. Dilanjalie Kaushalya (P. de S. Kularatne MV) 35.9, 2. R. Wajira Dilrukshi (P. de S. Kularatne MV) 38.22, 3. T. Chalani Dharshani (Prajapathi Gotami GMV) 39.8, 4. A. L. Mutukumari Mendis (Dharmasoka College) 39.9 and 5. Gihara Amarasinghe (Southlands BMV, Galle) 39.31.

Best youngest swimmer (Boys): K. R. Tisara Kumara (Dharmasoka College). Best youngest swimmer (Girls): D. L. Himashi Shalinika (Dharmasoka College)

General Manager, Sales and Marketing Dialog Telecom Nushad Perera, and old boy of Dharmasoka College, Director Acvatike Ltd Ananda Manawadu distributed the Trophies and certificates to the winners.

Commenting on the event Dhananjaya Nandasiri, Coordinator of the OBA of Dharmasoka College said, “We are very proud to state that the College Sports Council and the OBA Junior League received a great deal of positive feedback following last year’s competition.

People praised us not just for conducting the competition but on the healing and reconciliation we try to promote as part of our desire to bring people back to the ocean following the tragedy of the tsunami.

Last year 500 swimmers took part and this year the response was even better with 667 swimmers (Both boys and girls).
