Mega power project to provide electricity to Ratnapura
RATNAPURA: The Government will soon implement a mega power
project at a cost of Rs.5000 million to provide electricity to every
household in the Ratnapura District, Power and Energy Minister W.D.J.
Seneviratne disclosed.
The Senevigama Housing Scheme in the Veligepola Divisional
Secretariat Division of the Rakwana Electorate, Ratnapura District,
built at Rs.2.5 million under the Jana Sevana Housing Programme of the
Ministry of Housing Development was vested in the people at a ceremony
held under the auspices of Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne recently.
Senevigama Housing Scheme was implemented under the financial and
technological patronage of the National Housing Development Authority.
Thirty poor families in the Ratnapura District were provided with
housing together with 80 perches of land for each beneficiary.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Seneviratne said though Ratnapura
is reckoned as the land of jewels, majority of its inhabitants live
under poor living standards and without adequate infrastructure
facilities.
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Member Anura Alagiyawanna,
Agriculture and Livestock Resources Minister Ranjith de Soysa and
Veligepola Divisional Secretary Chitra Kottewatta were present. |
