Foreign Minister launches ‘Electronic Diary System’ for missions abroad

COLOMBO: Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday launched an ‘electronic diary system’, connecting all 55 Sri Lanka Missions abroad with the Foreign Ministry in Colombo.

This modality will facilitate the Minister to stay abreast of the official engagements of the Heads of Mission and to enable him to make suggestions and review the progress of these interactions, a Ministry release said.

The introduction of this system fulfills an objective set out by the Minister when he assumed duties on February 06, to ensure that there is constant interaction and monitoring of the activities being carried out on behalf of Sri Lanka by the Sri Lanka Missions abroad.

Inaugurating this system, the Minister reviewed the electronic diary of Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in New Delhi Romesh Jayasinghe. Associated with the Minister were Acting Foreign Secretary T.B. Maduwegedara and Director General/ South Asia and SAARC Grace A. Asirwatham.
