COLOMBO: The Army has extended the closing date of its latest
recruitment drive to February 26 due to the positive response of youth
willing to join the Forces, Military Spokesman Brigadier Prasad
Samarasinghe said.
“The recruitment campaign was very successful. More than 4,400 youth
have joined within two weeks. This clearly shows the patriotism of our
youth,” Brigadier Samarasinghe said.
The recruitment campaign for the Army commenced during the Deyata
Kirula Educational and Development Exhibition where a large number of
youth signed up to join the Forces by witnessing their stalls.
The successful results of the military operations carried out by the
Forces in the North and East have also created a positive impact,
according to military sources.
Hundreds of deserters also re-joined during the amnesty period
declared by the Government, increasing the strength of the Army. The
Army has extended another opportunity to those who were legally
discharged from the Army and retired after 22 years of service to re-
join and serve the country.
Those who are interested should report to their respective Regimental
Centres with relevant certificates which include discharge certificate,
Police Clearance Certificate and Grama Sevaka Certificate, Brigadier
Samarasinghe said. |
