Capt. Edgar K. Rupprecht who is investing in this project said he was
earlier based in the Maldives for 15 years and decided to set up his
investment in Weligama since the area was ideal for water sports.
He already has a water sports centre at the Weligama Hotel but his
centre was completely damaged to the tsunami.
“However with the assistance of the hotel I have rebuilt this,” he
said.
The new water sports centre would be ready by the end of the year and
it would be open for both locals and foreigners.
The center would also issues PADI licenses for divers that in turn
will help them to dive anywhere in the world.
In addition to the water sports centre there would also be a sports
goods shop, snack bar and mini boutique.
