FORUM: The Sri Lanka Export Development Board in collaboration
with the Sri Lanka embassy in Beijing, China will organise participation
of local companies in a Sri Lanka investment, trade and tourism
promotion event to be held in Beijing, China on March 1.
The exhibition is organised to coincide with the visit of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa to the People’s Republic of China and proposed
celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations of Sri
Lanka with China. A trade display will be part of the promotion.
An official of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board said China is
one of the fastest growing economies in the world and because of its
high dependence on foreign trade it is opening up faster than most other
countries.
He also mentioned the actual tariff protection level of China is far
lower than most developing countries and even lower than some major
developed countries. |
