Army Major re-remanded

COLOMBO: Eight suspects including an Army Major were produced yesterday before Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardane by the Police Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) and remanded till February 20.

These suspects are alleged to have supported the LTTE and passed on military information to assassinate VIPs. The suspects include four Army personnel, a doctor and a member of an underworld gang.

The TID further stated that the suspects have sought LTTE help to commit many crimes in several areas. The Chief Magistrate stated that the suspect will be forwarded to the Galle Magistrate's Courts after the TID produces the necessary documents.
