Over 80 Commercial Bank branches to stay open on bank holidays

OPENING: The Commercial Bank will keep over 80 of its branches open on public and bank holidays during the year to better serve the public, especially the mercantile sector which works on these days.

For a start, all Commercial Bank branches in the Colombo and Gampaha districts and those at Akuressa, Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Galewela, Hingurakgoda, Kandy, Kekirawa and Kuliyapitiya will be kept open from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm on Mahasivarathri Day falling on February 16.

Thereafter, these branches would also be open on Good Friday (April 6), Deepavali (November 8) and Id-ul-Alha [Hadji] (December 21) even though these are designated as Bank Holidays. In addition to these all 17 Supermarket Counters and the four 365-day Holiday Banking Centres at Colombo 7, Negombo, Galle City and Ampara will be kept open as usual, the bank announced this week.

DGM - Operations of Commercial Bank Sanath Bandaranayake said: "As Sri Lanka's leading bank and having a strong corporate sector clientele, we are committed to help our corporate clients by enhancing banking convenience and accessibility.

Customers would be able to carry out all over-the-counter banking transactions including opening of accounts and obtaining foreign exchange for travel abroad on these days."
