CCC in sensational win over NCC

CRICKET: CCC scored a sensational 17-run win over NCC in their Premier league super eight cricket match played at CCC grounds, yesterday.

Though CCC were in a bad way at the initial stage of the match they fought back later. Nisal Randika had a match bag of five wickets for 38 while Sujeewa de Silva picked 4 for 35 for CCC.

In reply to NCC's 137 Jehan Mubarak top scored with 117 to bolster CCC innings.

CCC - 68 (Duminda Ranaweera 12, Eashan Abeysinghe 12, Jehan Mubarak 12, Akalanka Ganegama 7 for 25, Chatura Athukorala 2 for 18) and 371 (Duminda Ranaweera 42, Jehan Mubarak 117, Tharindu Mendis 65, Chatura Athukorala 3 for 72, N.C.Komasaru 3 for 7).

NCC - 285 (Lasith Fernando 58, Mapa Bandara 54, Chatura Athukorala 50, Laknath Perera 5 for 68, Nisal 3 for 38) and 137 (Kanchana Gunawardane 20, Chatura Athukorala 28, Dilshan Aravinda 27, Nisal Randika 5 for 38, Sujeewa de Silva 4 for 35).


Easy for Tamil Union

Tamil Union CC registered a convincing 174 runs win over Bloomfield CC in their Premier league super eight cricket match concluded at P. Saravanamuttu Stadium, Colombo last evening.

Muditha Maduwantha (3 for 42), Nadika Ranjith (2 for 27) and Ranga Dias (2 for 55) bowled well for Tamil union.

Tamil Union CC - 536 (Mervan Fernando 164 n.o., Lanka de Silva 142, Sandun Dias 76, Shanuka Dissanayake 4 for 112) and 123 (Mervan Fernando 28, Ranga Dias 23, Sanjaya Gangodawila 2 for 7).

Bloomfield CC - 218 (Chinthaka Jayasinghe 71, Yohan de Silva 35, Tharanga Lakshitha 33, Nandika Ranjith 3 for 65, Ranga Dias 3 for 65, Muditha Maduwantha 2 for 39) and 267 (Tharaka Gunaratne 101, Sanjaya Gangodawila 57, Thilina Kandamby 29, Nandika Ranjith 2 for 27, Muditha Maduwantha 3 for 42, Ranga Dias 2 for 55).


Chilaw Marians in convincing win

Chilaw Marians CC won their Premier league super eight cricket match against Panadura SC by 245 runs at BOI grounds, Katunayake, yesterday.

Marian's paceman Gayan Wijekoon had a haul of three wickets for 20, Manoj Chanaka (3 for 37) and Hasnatha Fernando (2 for 8) also made useful contributions for Marian's to bowl out Panadura SC for 123.

Charith Sylvester scored a chanceless 98 which helped to swell the Marians score, Charith was ably helped by Mahela Udawatte (41) and Nimesh Perera (26). Sudesh Umayanga (4 for 42) and Sanjeewa Roshan (3 for 63) were the main wreckers for the losers.

Chilaw Marians CC - 250 (Janaka Gunaratne 100 n.o., Charith Sylvester 32, Kelum Gangodawila 7 for 87, Sanjeewa Roshan 2 for 43) and 223 for 8 (Charith Sylvester 98, Mahela Udawatte 41, Nimesh Perera 26, Sudesh Umayanga 4 for 42, Sanjeewa Roshan Abeywardane 3 for 63).

Panadura SC - 105 (Dilruwan Perera 25, Sunendra Kumara Peiris 17, Dinuka Hettiarachchi 6 for 20, Gayan Wijekoon 3 for 31) and 123 (Sunendra Kumara 60 n.o., Gayan Wijekoon 3 for 20, Manoj Chanaka 3 for 37, Hasantha Fernando 2 for 8).


Baduraliya triumph

Baduraliya SC defeated BRC by two wickets in their Premier league cricket match played at BRC grounds yesterday.

Pramuka Sudesh bowled well to pick four wickets for 33 for Baduraliya which helped to contain BRC to 222. Lassana Dias (3 for 81) and Malinga Surappulige (2 for 34) too gave a fine bowling performance for Badureliya.

In reply to BRC's 214 Sherantha Mendis scored an unbeaten 70, for Baduraliya while Damith Hunukumbura (36) and Chamara Liyanage (30) were the other top scorers for Baduraliya.
