COLOMBO: Today, the fifth day of “Deyata Kirula-Rata Dinana Heta
Dinata” Educational and Development Exhibition has been declared “Media
Day” where the Minister of Media, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa will
participate as the chief guest. State and media private media
institutions are actively taking part in the exhibition, believed to be
one of the biggest exhibitions ever held in Sri Lanka.
A large number of people thronged the exhibition grounds yesterday
despite Tuesday’s incident.
BMICH Director General Bandula Ekanayake said over 200,000 people had
visited the exhibition on Tuesday and even more arrived yesterday.
There was no panic at all among the people as they were well informed
about security arrangements, Ekanayake said.
The exhibition which ends tomorrow is a gateway to the development
process envisaged under the 10 year “Mahinda Chintana” development
programme.
The participants in the Exhibition are state institutions as well as
private enterprises and the Government is not sharing any financial
burden to conduct it as a large number of private sector organisations
have come forward to finance it.
The exhibition is designed to display 14 facets of national
importance covering the areas of Health Care and Social Welfare, Power
and Energy, Provincial Councils, Media, Infrastructure Development,
Finance, Commerce and Trade, Presidential Secretariat, Security, Public
Administration, Industries, Education, Environment and Tourism,
Agriculture, Transport and Private Sector. Exhibition hours span from 10
a.m. to 12 midnight daily.

maintaining additional services for the convenience of exhibition goers.
