Three terrorist suspects arrested
Disaster averted :
COLOMBO: The Army yesterday arrested three Sinhalese men
suspected to have received LTTE weapons training for six months in an
LTTE terrorist camp in Kilinochchi under the terrorist leader Kapila
Amman in a search operation conducted in Dehiwala and suburbs.
They have arrived in Colombo to take VIP targets, Army spokesman told
the Daily News.
Acting on information received from a civilian, Security Forces have
arrested three suspects along with a haul of arms and ammunition.
Among the recovered arms and ammunition are, C4 explosives weighing
six kg, four T-56 weapons, 449 rounds of ammunition, two micro pistols
and 49 rounds of ammunition, 50 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, two claymore
mines weighing 1kg and 60 electronic detonators.
With the arrest of three terrorist suspects and the arms and
ammunition, a disaster that could have caused great loss of life and
property has been averted, thanks to the vigilance of the civilians and
prompt action of the Security Forces. |
