Deyata Kirula: National exhibition on Feb 04

COLOMBO: The Finance Ministry jointly with the Presidential
Secretariat will organise a National exhibition Deyata Kirula-Rata
Dinana Heta Dinata on February 4-7 at the BMICH depicting the
Government's development endeavour under-10 year plan outlined in the
Mahinda Chinthana.
Finance Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyabalapitiya addressing the media
at the Government Information Department yesterday said the exhibition
would portray the activities of State institutions under 14 sectors in
the path to achieving 10 year development targets.
"Unlike other exhibitions, we have not allocated separate stalls for
each government instution. Instead the instutions under a Ministry would
demonstrate their activities and plans in a single stall at this
exhibition which is entirely funded by private sector, the Deputy
Minister said.
"Special transport and security arrangements are in place to
facilitate visitors, he said
The private sector has joined hands with the government to make this
event a success. They will demonstrate their products and services in
their endeavour of uplifting people's living condition.
The Cultural Department has organised the first day cultural show
while the Armed Forces and the Education Ministry cultural shows will be
on February 05 and 06. Eminent artistes will perform in the last day
show.
Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga said the presidential
secretariat uncovers government's efforts in bringing development to the
village which is integral part of the national development.
"We aim at demonstrating the government's 10-year mechanism to
achieve development targets as pledged by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in
the Mahinda Chinthana.
This is a better exposition of what the government plans to do within
next 10 years. We have made arrangement to uphold the security of
visitors.
The instutions under Health and Social Welfare, Power and Energy,
Provincial Councils, Media, Infrastructure Development, Finance,
Commerce and Trade, Presidential Secretariat, Defence, State Governance,
Industry, Education, Environment and Tourism, Agriculture, Transport,
and private sector are expected to partipate in the exhibition.
This exhibition will be open from 10. am. to 12 midnight except on
February 04. Tokyo Cement, Ceylinco Group, Sri Lanka Telecom, Cargills
(Ceylon) Limited and Stassen Group are principal sponsors.
Media Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Ministry Secretary W. B.
Ganegala also spoke. Heads of Media instutions and Information
Department officials participated. |
