Two nabbed with forged currency

KALUTARA:Two persons were nabbed by the police along with forged
currency notes and computer equipment on Sunday in Matugama, HQI
Kalutara Indika Silva said.
According to the HQI the suspects were residents of Matugama. They
were arrested with 203 Rs.1,000 notes and computer equipment which were
used for forging currency notes. "Following an information received, our
officers detected a suspect who brings the forged currency to the
market. The suspect was arrested with a forged currency note at a liquor
shop", he added.
The HQI said that the manufacturer of the forge currency note was
apprehended at his residence together with the forged money and computer
equipment following information provided by the first suspect. According
to the HQI the suspects were releasing a large amount of forged currency
notes to the market.
"We believe that the suspects were involved in this illegal activity
for three months. If they were still at large they could have caused
great damage by releasing more money to the market, the HQI remarked.
The Kalutara police are conducting further investigations.
