COLOMBO: The International Spiritual Leader of the Dawoodi Bohra
Community, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb showered
his blessings for a peaceful and united Sri Lanka.
His Holiness Dr. Syedna Burhanuddin had arrived in Sri Lanka
yesterday after eight years, as a State Guest of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa's government, to participate at the most auspicious and
religious event in the Bohra Community's Calendar, 'Ashara Mubaraka'.
He met many government Ministers and other dignitaries soon after his
arrival yesterday at the 'Sai See' Villa in Colombo, which included
Transport Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Deputy Tourism Minister Faiz Mustapha,
Presidential Advisor A.H.M. Azwer, Housing and Construction Minister
Ferial Ashraff, Saudi Ambassador in Sri Lanka Mohamed Al Ali, a
representative from the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, UNP
Parliamentarian M.H. Mohamed and Former Deputy Mayor Azath Sally among
others.
Transport Minister A.H.M. Fowzie representing the government said
that His Holiness Dr.Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb had come to Sri
Lanka as a messenger of peace.
The government would extend all the facilities needed to the Bohra
community in Sri Lanka. "Much is expected in the sphere of economic
development in the country, from the Bohra community," he added.
