Move to sell Sri Lankan stamps abroad
COLOMBO: The Post and Telecommunication Ministry has made
arrangements to increase foreign exchange by selling Sri Lankans stamps.
The Post and Telecommunication and Rural Economic Development
Minister D.M. Jayaratne has appointed a committee to draw a plan to
improve the quality of Sri Lanka stamps keeping with international
standards.
The committee is appointed on Post Master General S. Senadheera's
recommendation to improve the quality of Sri Lanka stamps to meet the
international demand.
The committee appointed by the Minister include Assistant
Superintendent Central Bank Sri Lanka Y.M.W.B. Weerasekera, Currency in
Circulation Unit Superintendent A. Geevandhara, Post Master General
Senadheera, Deputy Post Master General (Operations) R.P.O. Gamini,
Philatelic Bureau Director Charles Chandravansa and Director (Planning)
Sri Haran.
The committee appointed will look into how best the stamps could be
made to market them internationally, give suitable themes for stamp
making and printing using advanced printing technology. |
