POLONNARUWA: Two home guards were arrested for alleged links with the
LTTE in Katuvanwila, Welikanda on Wednesday night, SSP Polonnaruwa
Jayantha Wickramasinghe said.
SSP Wickramasinghe said the two homeguards were attached to Welikanda
police. He said two claymore mines, five detonators, an AK-47 and 20
rounds of ammunition were recovered in a jungle close to their houses.
"The two suspects revealed that the weapons were given by the LTTE
cadres from Vakarai to assassinate some Army personnel," he added. He
said the homeguards have served for five years. "It is believed that
they had maintained a close relationship with the Tigers in the last six
months," he added. |
