Ven. Chojun Othani, Nayaka Thera, the Viharadhipathi of Hongajee Temple, Japan, who erected a 65 feet replica of the destroyed Bamian Buddha Statue at Peraliya, Galle, called on Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake at the Prime Minister’s Office before his departure to Japan recently. The statue at Peraliya was constructed on the advice of Ven. Banagala Upathissa Nayaka Thera, the Chief of the Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka.
