Interim injunction notice in GOH Accountant case

COLOMBO: Colombo District Judge Aruna C. Ranasinghe issued notice of interim injunction to nine defendants including the President and Secretary of the Inter Employee Federation of the Grand Oriental Hotel and notice to appear before the Court on January 9.

Accountant of the Grand Oriental Hotel, Kurukulasuriyage Anura Fernando filed the plaint before the District Court pleading to issue a permanent injunction refraining the defendants from preventing petitioner engaging in his duties.

Petitioner Fernando cited President of the Inter Employee Federation Udaya Kumara Jayawardana, Secretary, Prasanna Karunaratne and another seven employees of the Grand Oriental Hotel as Defendants.

The Petitioner filing his plaint through Attorney S. B. Dissanayake stated that the defendants prevented him reporting to duty since December 22, 2006 based on a news item in a newspaper. He stated that the Management had at no time made a complaint against him.

Petitioner said that he had taken disciplinary action against six of the defendants earlier and they were acting maliciously against him. Petitioner placed the cost of filing the case at Rs. 100,000.
