Most Kantale IDPs resettled

KANTALE: Over 1,265 Internally Displaced Persons from nearly 454 families in Kantale have gone back to their original dwellings and three schools including Bhathiyagama Primary School, Seevali Vidyalaya and Vendrasonpura Vidyalaya utilised as camps for displaced have been completely vacated.

Kantale Divisional Secretary Sirimevan Dharmasiri told the Daily News these three schools will open tomorrow for the new term.

He said people are very keen on returning to their villages soon and Security Forces are making an effort to flush out terrorists.

He said only 2,806 people from 910 families are living in five camps for the displaced and they might resettle soon.

The Disaster Relief Service Ministry's National Disaster Management Centre Director N.D. Hettiarachchi told the Daily News that the Government has already handed over Rs. 10 million to District and divisional secretaries to provide relief.
