Sunday Standard Editor walks out

Sunday Standard Editor Rohan Abeywardene had resigned having disagreed with the New Managing Director.

Sources close to the Sunday Standard said Abeywardene has objected to the new Managing Director's request to the journalists to follow a highly biased Sunday newspaper which goes against all journalistic norms, as the role model.

He had also objected to the Managing Director coming to chair the editorial meeting.

We have also information to the effect that the Consultant Editor of the Sunday Standard Nihal Ratnaike, a former Daily News Editor has also tendered his resignation with effect from yesterday.
