Kingsley to deliver keynote address at World Management Summit 2006
COLOMBO: Former Southern Province Governor Kingsley T. Wickramaratne
has been invited to the World Management Summit conference 2006 to be
held at the Sheraton Towers in Karachi from December 5th to 7th, and
will deliver the keynote address on "Bridging the digital gap through
Corporate Social Responsibility?"
Wickramartne has contributed vastly to the advancement of IT
education and training.
He pioneered the establishment of the Sri Lanka Institute of
Information Technology Campus, Sri Lanka's largest IT degree awarding
institution.
Appeal to Booksellers Association members
COLOMBO: The Booksellers and Importers Association of Ceylon has
appealed to their members to be present today (Monday, December 4, 2006)
at 4.45 p.m. at the Kanatte General Cemetery, (Hindu Section) to attend
the funeral of Thambirajah Jeyarajah, proprietor of the Jeya Book
Centre.
Marvil Aru farmers get Rs. 176 m as compensation

KAHAWA: The Government had paid a total sum of Rs. 176 million, as
compensation to those farmers, whose paddy lands ran dry due to the
closure of Marvil-Aru anicut by the LTTE on July 20, 2006 'CDN',
understood.
The number of acres of paddy lands so dried was 7,477.
Compensation are paid for one acre was Rs. 25,000, as the maximum and
those payments were made due to the efforts of Agrarian Services and
Farmer Community, Development Minister S. M. Chandrasena. |
