Research award to Prof. Wijeratne
COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Association of Advancement of Science (SLAAS)
conferred a research award to Prof. Mahinda Wijeratne of University of
Ruhuna.
The SLAAS made this prestigious award to him for the excellent
contribution rendered to agricultural research and serving the farming
community for more than a spell of 25 years.
During this period he has disseminated more than 200 research
publications and presentations local as well as international fora.
He is a pioneering member of the University of Ruhuna and at present
serves as the Professor of Agricultural Economics.
An Agric. Graduate of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Wijeratne
obtained his masters and doctorate degrees from the State University of
Ghent and Agric. University Wageningen, the Netherlands, respectively.
In addition, he has secured the LLB degree from the Open University.
He is an old boy of Nalanda College, Colombo.
This award will be conferred at the inauguration ceremony of the
SLAAS annual sessions on December 12 at the BMICH. |
